 Program Overview   study in america

Dakota State University (DSU) is accredited, and is ranked by the U.S. News as the #1 Midwest public comprehensive college. DSU's affordable graduate programs are available on-campus or via online/distance learning. DSU graduate programs include Information Systems (masters and doctorate), Information Assurance (masters), and Educational Technology (masters).

The Master of Science in Information Systems (MSIS) degree focuses on the integration of information technology with business problems and opportunities. Specializations include: Data Management; Electronic Commerce; Network Administration and Security; and Healthcare Information Systems.

The MSIS program requires students to complete 30 credit hours beyond the bachelor's degree. Students must also complete the Information Integration Project Course or an additional three credit course.

The Master of Science in Information Assurance (MSIA) prepares graduates to protect an organization's information assets. Both the National Security Agency and The Department of Homeland Security have designated DSU as a national center of excellence in information assurance education. The program educates graduates in advanced technology, security and implementation issues, which can include providing technical leadership for organizations to adopt new technologies. Specializations include Banking and Financial Security, Wireless and Networking Security, and Internet and E-Commerce.

The MSIA program requires students to complete 36 hours beyond the bachelor's degree, with 24 credit hours in core courses, and 12 credit hours in a specialization.

Admission to the MSIS and MSIA programs requires a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution, a minimum GPA of 2.75 for the MSIS program and 3.0 for the MSIA program, and satisfactory scores on the GRE, which must have been taken within the last five years.

Knowledge in business fundamentals and information systems is recommended for admission to the MSIS program. Students who do not meet the knowledge requirements may be required to complete knowledge support courses.
