The University of Wisconsin Madison is located in the capital of the U.S. state of Wisconsin. Madison boasts shopping, dining, coffee shops, summer music festivals, and art. Students have access to activities and events in which they can spend their spare time.
As of fall 2008, Wisconsin MBA students enjoy a new, state-of-the-art facility designed to foster interaction and collaboration. The new, four-story addition to the home of the Wisconsin School of Business, Grainger Hall, was specially designed for the career specialization model of the Wisconsin MBA.
It provides a home for each career specialization to allow networking, team meetings, and other important interactions. Student-friendly gathering spaces and common areas combined with the latest technology in a warm and welcoming environment. It was designed to meet or exceed today’s standards for sustainability.

Admissions Criteria & Procedures

Bachelor's Degree
A bachelor's degree from an approved (accredited) institution. International applicants must have a degree comparable to an approved U.S. bachelor's degree.
2 Years Work Experience
A minimum of two years of professional work experience for applicants to the MBA program. However, exceptional candidates with limited professional work experience and a strong part-time or internship experience will be considered.
GMAT.
A Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) score taken within the past five years. Please direct the testing service to forward your test results to the University of Wisconsin-Madison (institution code: 79K-2S-72). The GMAT is required for applicants to all graduate business programs. The test must have been taken within five years of the term for which you are applying.
TOEFL
A Test of English as a Foreign Language Applicants whose native language is not English or whose undergraduate instruction was not in English must complete either the Internet-based (100 or higher) or paper-based (600 or higher) TOEFL. Please direct the Educational Testing Service to forward your test results taken within two years of your intended start term to the University of Wisconsin-Madison (institution code: 1846). International applicants with undergraduate degrees from U.S. universities may request a waiver of this requirement.
Prerequisite Courses
There are no School of Business prerequisite courses for students in the MBA program. However, individual career specializations may have courses they will recommend you complete prior to beginning the program. They will communicate with you to let you know what classes you should take once you have been admitted to the program.
If students would like to take a course prior to starting their MBA program, the university suggests that they consider taking a statistics and/or an economics course. Both courses have proven to be beneficial to incoming students in helping them gain the necessary knowledge to begin the program.
Computer Literacy Requirement.
All master's students must possess knowledge of spreadsheet and presentation software. The important focus is on usable technical/computing skills such as: document layout, graphics insertion, and table development; spreadsheet functions such as summing, counting, graphing, and forecasting; and presentation development including graphics and on-line delivery.

One-page resume outlining your academic/personal/professional achievements and business experience.
To assist students with their resume preparation, the Wisconsin MBA Career Services Office has provided materials on resume format and guidelines. Students may find these resources helpful as you prepare your resume.
Essays
Two questions are applicable for all MBA candidates, while the other two questions are based on the career specialization applicants select
No more than six type written pages in total (single or double space acceptable, 10-12 pt font recommended) for all four required questions
Combine essays in one document, label each question clearly and include name at the top of each page
Optional Essay
Applicants may include an additional essay of which the topic is your choice. It is typically used to cover any issues applicants may want to address to the admissions committee that is not already covered in the application. This essay is not required.

Expenses & Financial Assistance

All candidates who apply to the program will be considered for scholarships and fellowships. Awards are made on the merits of the candidate and their application materials. Candidates who wish to be considered for assistantships will be required to complete the Merit-based Financial Assistance Form, which is included in the on-line application.
Scholarships and Fellowships
Wisconsin Distinguished Graduate Fellowships (WDGF)
The WDGF is one of the most comprehensive merit-based financial aid awards made by the Wisconsin School of Business. Candidates who receive this award are provided a full waiver of tuition, health insurance, a welcome check of $1,500 and a stipend of approximately $15,000 for the academic year. A WDGF is only offered to an incoming first year student is a non-renewable award.
Alumni, Departmental and Dean's Scholarships
Scholarships range in support from $1,000 to $10,000 for one year. Scholarships are cash awards in which half is paid in the fall semester and half in the spring semester. Scholarships are non-renewable awards.
Assistantships
Project assistants (PAs) and teaching assistants (TAs) are required to work 13 hours per week or more to receive a waiver of tuition, health insurance and a stipend. Stipend values vary based on the number of hours worked and experience level. Most PA and TA appointments are made at the time of admission for either a one-year or two-year commitment. Awards are made on the merits of the candidate and qualifications presented on the Merit-based Financial Assistance Form. Needs may change during the academic year and departments may post assistantships throughout the year.
Project Assistantships
A variety of project assistant (PA) positions are available through the Wisconsin School of Business. In the past, PAs have worked in the following areas: assisting professors with research projects, performing market analysis, reviewing faculty literature, working in local arts organizations, programming databases, evaluating research data, recruiting prospective students, developing and distributing promotional materials, coordinating activities for small business and events planning. Stipends for PAs working at least 13 hours per week start at approximately $7,400 per academic year.
Teaching Assistantships
Teaching assistants (TAs) are responsible for one or more lecture or discussion sections of undergraduate students. TAs typically have tutoring or other educational experience and are usually required to have completed coursework in the academic area of the TA appointment. Stipends for TAs working at least 13 hours per week start at approximately $6,800 per academic year.
Need Based Financial Aid
Stafford Loans
Subsidized: Graduate students may borrow up to $8,500 per year through the Federal Subsidized Stafford Loan to a cumulative maximum of $65,500 for undergraduate and graduate years combined. The interest rate is variable and set annually with a cap of 8.25% for new borrowers. Neither interest nor principal payments begin until the borrower leaves school or is no longer enrolled at least half-time.
Unsubsidized: Graduate students may borrow an additional $12,000 per year through the Federal Unsubsidized Stafford Loan. The interest rate is variable and set annually with a cap of 8.25% for new borrowers. Principal payments do not begin until the borrower leaves school or is no longer enrolled at least half-time. However, the student must choose to either begin interest payments immediately or to defer the interest payments, in which case the interest would accrue while the student is in school.
Private Loans
The MBA Loans Program is a private lender through Sallie Mae. The MBA Loans Program provides graduate business students with a comprehensive, affordable source of funds designed to meet students education financing needs.
Global Student Loan
The Global Student Loan Corporation (GSLC) provides an education loan for international students that does not require a U.S. co-signer. The Global Student Loan covers the complete cost of attending school, such as tuition, student fees, books, housing, transportation, and computer costs.
